MARA scholarship (I'm screwed) Part I
This is not a bashing post nor it is a screw-government-join-opposition post. No I'm not politically inclined guy. Minta simpang la. It's just a post of me telling you guys how screwed I am during the last few weeks spanning before and after Raya Aidlifitri which beforehand, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The journey starts a week so so before Raya when A-Level Student KMS Batch 11 keying in their user name and password given by CIE (CIE, I guess) to check the A-Level results, our second examination aka A2 examination. Alhamdulillah, after a very long struggle of keeping eyes open during midnight to complete assignments and stuff, I got 15 points, which for those who are not familiar with A2 marking system, that just mean I got straight As. Oyeah baby Gangnam Style (It's a joke). Later, my friend aka Helmi Amir reminded me of something I've long forgotten; UK Application through UCAS.
Helmi: Kau apply UK tak?
Shai: Apply tapi MARA bagi ke?
Helmi: Entah tapi kitorang dah buat appeal letter kat MARA kalau dapat 15 untuk pergi UK.
I'm Screwed 1: Why no one ever tell me about the appealing this guys are doing?
So, screwed by I'm Screwed Number 1, I proceed with calling Pn Hairiah which phone number given by CIE website to update her of my long-forgotten application.
Shai: Cikgu, kalau dapat 15, boleh apply untuk pergi UK ke cikgu?
Pn Hairiah: Yes, right now MARA is considering of sending those who got 15 and applying to UK but just wait for their call.
Oyeah! I'm burst with excitement and a XL pack of sweats considering how short the period of me staying in Malaysia will be. And don't forget; I call her on the eve of Raya, so I have to expect a little harsh tone of "Why you call me at this time, Shai". Then I remember...
I'm screwed 2: Passport, baby.
Oh my, I haven't done my passport yet and I don't have that discount letter with me.Yeah, and college will only be opening in next week because Raya. So fast forward to next week, I called KMS and been connected to Mr Adha, my former counselor.
Mr Adha: Shai bagi no IC, full name, belajar kat mana and jurusan apa.
Shai: Okay
Short but very contented conversation. At least, I got to save RM150 that later, will be used on something verily unexpected and unintended (Muse).
Let us just skip all the other daily work and go on to the passport-making day. Oh yeah, I'm getting my own passport. But after all the little chores I've done to ensure the process went smoothly including spending RM18 to get my passport pictures done, all those photocopying of documents, I've got to stumble upon one unexpected problem,
Kak 1: Sorry dik, adik punya IC ni IC lama. Orang dah tak recognize dah muka adik dalam ni. Adik pergi buat baru kat tingkat bawah, then bila dah settle semua, adik naik atas balik pastu complete kan semua borang ni balik cam orang bodoh, okay.
Okay, the last three words were just made up but purposely made up to show my frustrations towards the situation. Come on, kak. Takkan IC lama pon takleh guna. Dammit. Don't you know, sis that making new IC will take time as long as one day, as if making a passport one month before departure was not enough trouble for me, screw you sister. Haha anyway, the day after today, which also known as tomorrow, I got my new passport. Oyeah Gangnam Style!
To be continued...
